„Resilvering“ – an English metaphor

A mirror, in IT, is an array of two hard drives that are linked in order to save exactly the same data, mainly for redundancy reasons – and, as such, mirroring each other.

Resilvering, in extension of this metaphor, is the process of re-joining two disks after „the mirror has been lost“, like actual mirrors that lost their capacity of reflectioning back when they were made of silver.
